FAQ

Questions & answers

Our bread

What's in your bread?

Organic wheat flour, water and salt — that's it. Our natural sourdough starter is made from the same organic flour and water, instead of commercial yeast. Clean label: no additives, no preservatives. The seeded versions add organic flax and chia seeds. See our breads.

Are your ingredients organic?

Yes — our flour and our flax and chia seeds are organic. Water and salt are minerals, so they don't carry an organic label.

What about allergens?

Our bread contains wheat (gluten). It is made in a home kitchen that also handles other foods, so we can't guarantee it is free from traces of other allergens. Our kitchen has not been inspected by the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development.

How should I store it?

Keep it cut-side down on a board, or in a paper or cloth bag, for 2–3 days. Avoid the fridge, which makes bread stale faster. To revive the crust, warm it in a hot oven for 5 minutes.

Can I freeze it?

Yes! Slice it first, freeze in a sealed bag for up to 3 months, and toast slices straight from the freezer.

Ordering & pickup

How far ahead can I order?

We bake for Wednesdays and Saturdays. Orders close at 8:00 PM two days before: Monday 8 PM for Wednesday, Thursday 8 PM for Saturday — that night we start the starter for your bread. You can order up to 12 weeks ahead.

Where do I pick up?

From the bread shelf in front of our house in Portage, MI — anytime between 7 AM and 10 PM on your pickup day. We send the exact address once your order is confirmed.

Do you deliver?

Not yet — pickup only for now.

What if a day is sold out?

Join the waitlist on the order page. If a loaf frees up, we email you right away and hold it for you for 2 hours.

Can I order for an event or a large group?

We'd love to help. Please email us with the date and how many loaves you need.

Payment & cancellations

How can I pay?

Online by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link — or at pickup with cash, Venmo or Zelle.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Cancel for a full refund until 8:00 PM the day before your pickup (Tuesday 8 PM for Wednesday, Friday 8 PM for Saturday), using the link in your confirmation email or in your account. After that, please contact us.

Bread Subscription & referrals

What is the Bread Subscription?

A standing order: choose your bread and your days — every Wednesday, every Saturday, or both. Your loaves are reserved before public ordering opens, so you never miss out. You're charged when orders close for each pickup, and you can skip, pause or cancel anytime online. Learn more.

How do referrals work?

Every customer gets a personal link and code. Your friend gets $2 off their first order, and you get $2 credit once they pick it up. Credits apply automatically to your next order.
